Born with the Gift of Magic: music from the sixth part of the Final Fantasy game series. The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra presents Nobuo Uematsu’s suggestive music under the leadership of Andreas Hanson.

The music from the extensive Final Fantasy game series is probably today’s most beloved and well-known soundtrack. Final Fantasy is a fairy-tale world that has been thriving and evolving for 25 years, and musically, it contains incredibly rich breadth and variation.

The story centres on Terra Branford’s quest, the heroine born with magical powers. She grew up a slave to the Emperor and was trained to become a weapon of mass destruction. When she manages to free herself, she finds that she does not remember her past at all. She embarks on a quest to re-establish her identity, and to find the source of her unusual powers.

Roger Wanamo is responsible for the arrangement. He also arranged the music for another installment of the game, Final Fantasy VI, which is also available to watch here.

Roger Wanamo has orchestrated and arranged this nearly 20-minute long symphonic poem from Nobuo Uematsu’s Music for Final Fantasy VI. “This was the first Final Fantasy game I really played and I remember that I was utterly swept away. With this arrangement, I have tried to reproduce my experience.”
