As the days get shorter and the Oxford Street queues get longer, there’s nothing more appealing to get into the festive spirit than listening to Christmas carols. Whether you prefer church choirs or Bing Crosby, whether you are Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree or having yourself A Merry Little Christmas, we all have our favourite Christmas songs to enjoy The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. Yet, there is a whole other subcategory that either brightens up your gingerbread house or has you reaching for the Christmas spirit: carols sung by opera singers! So make yourself a nice cuppa – but I recommend something a bit stronger, like mulled wine or eggnog! – and brace yourself for some operatic Christmas kitsch.
