Rencontres Musicales d'Évian

About Rencontres Musicales d'Évian
The Rencontres Musicales d'Évian classical music festival was created in 1976, under the impetus of Antoine Riboud, then CEO of the Danone group. For a long time the famous cellist, Mstislav Rostropovich, was Artistic Director and it was he who made the festival an unmissable meeting place for the greatest chamber musicians and instrumentalists of the international scene. After several years of interruption in the early 2000s, it was relaunched in 2014 under the artistic direction of, first, the Modigliani Quartet, then Philippe Bernhard until 2022. Over the years, the festival has regained its former glory.

The forthcoming edition, which will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the outstanding venue la Grange au Lac, will enhance the prestige of the Rencontres Musicales d'Évian: Renaud Capuçon, artistic director of this 2023 edition, has put together a high calibre programme with the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Chamber Orchestra of Lausanne, bass-baritone Bryn Terfel, soprano Aida Garifullina, pianists Emanuel Ax and Alexandre Kantorow, violinist Leonidas Kavakos, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and many others, as well as some of the most promising young artists.

A brilliant and festive edition lies ahead!
